Hello Scripting Gurus,

I need help making an applescript to move selected text from the system clipboard into an iMedia annotation field.

I like to write a long caption in the iMedia DESCRIPTION field. Then I copy and paste selected parts of the text into various annotations (mostly HEADLINE and INSTRUCTIONS).

The script I have so far recognizes text that I have selected in the DESCRIPTION and puts it into the system clipboard. However I can't get it to paste it into the HEADLINE field.

I'm using OS X 10.4.11 and iView MediaPro 3.1.3.

Many, many thanks: I've been fooling with various versions of the script below for days:

on run
tell application "iView MediaPro 3"
activate
set the clipboard to ""
tell application "System Events" to keystroke "c" using command down
set myCount to count (the clipboard)
if myCount = 0 then
display dialog "Please select the text you want to include and try again." buttons {"OK"} default button "OK"
return
end if
set SelectedText to the clipboard
end tell

tell application "iView MediaPro 3"
activate
set headline to SelectedText
end tell
end run
