My current workflow involves editing Canon CR2 raw files in Digital Photo Professional, then importing them into MediaPro 3.1 catalogs. But the thumbnail that iView generates doesn't recognize the edits done in DPP. In other words, if I use DPP to brighten up an underexposed image, the iView thumbnail will reflect the original version, not the corrected version.

Is there a technique, software plugin, or other method to get MediaPro to generate its thumbnail from the edited image rather than the raw data?

I am shooting straight CR2 raw files without a JPEG preview using an EOS 5D.

Many thanks,
aragonia

Hi aragonia,

It's not just iView. I haven't been able to get any third-party software to read edits made in Canon DPP. Do Canon update the embedded JPEG when saving edits? If not then maybe it's time to farewell DPP and look at a DNG workflow.
