I have emailed Phil twice regarding the catalog reader with no response. Previously, he had told me that the new reader was forthcoming. As a former retailer and customer service specialist, I find iView's business practices unacceptable (to put it mildly).

First, it is very unusual to let a beta expire without a backup or continuation. Next, both versions seemed to be working perfectly well.

Admittedly, we didn't take the beta notice seriously ( I looked carefully to see if iView should be reported to the FCC for misrepresentation) but I just don't understand how an organization with competition could be so arrogant.

To make matters even more irritating, I just received an iView newsletter!

Comments anyone?

I have a had a few bugs pop up. Never had the chance to use the media catalog cause I purchased 3.01 right from the get go and by then I realized the beta was expired. What is going on with these companies. I like IviewMedia Pro but the bugs have to go. How can you trust software to do a reliable job if you have crashes, or hickups all over the place. I am almost finding it a waste of money on this purchase. At least the price could have been a little lower considering that the product isnt even complete without the reader.

We didn't have any trouble with the reader, just the fact that it expired. Because I was sending to mostly Windows users, we tested the beta on about 6 Windows machines with no real problems other than expiration. Just shoddy business practices. It's now almost two months since I finished the project (a visual family history with 30 copies) and can't send it out until the reader is in place.

I have to add my voice to the other unhappy postings - I would never have upgraded to v.3 had I known there would have been this mess with the Windows catalog reader. I really feel it was money misspent and am considering asking for it back... 2.6.4 was fine and at least I could send catalogued pics and movies to the 95% of the world that doesn't have a full version of iView but is using Windows.

Is there any way we can get refunds on the upgrades? In any case, I am no longer talking up the wonders of iView to anyone - not until this gets fixed (and I'm hoping it gets fixed in a hurry)!

As with watching the aging process unfold, at least there's some comfort in seeing that no one else can remember anything either. However, its less than pleasant to know that everyone feels the way I do regarding the Reader. Perhaps the FCC should be contacted after all. Are you reading these comments, iView?

Face it, arrogant treatment of one's customers is not unheard of in this day and age. People are surpised when a company that puts out a good product has no talent in the customer relations department. Whoever is in charge of the rollout of IVMP3 (and their superiors) are frozen in place and unable to acknowledge their mis-handling of the reader and Windows Beta 3.1 issues. It's like a child who won't admit that they broke the cookie jar, juts out their jaw and refuses to speak. Or the old Nixon/Bush stonewall. Were this not true, this thread would not exist.

I'm new to the forum, but would like to have the Windows reader and 3.1 beta or a reasonable explanation of why it's taking so long.

Whistling in the wind,

Rick Bloom

Good observation, Rick. I was trained as an artist but also represented the fourth generation of a family owned retail apparel business founded in 1865. We wouldn't have lasted 120 years if we'd behaved like the iView staff. Both the lack of response to emails personally and the company's failure to post any progress notices which might allow the customers some sort of planning for THEIR customers is unfortunate. I am now stuck several months out in my personal situation, thirty copies of a family history that I spent over 20000.00 assembling and am unable to send out without the catalog reader. Some of the recipients are old and could die before the new reader comes out!

Best,
Dick
