The new (30 May, today!) announcement re IVMP 3.1 mentions the new Reader, in which it mentions that the reader allows "mark items with labels and ratings."

WELL, is there any chance that these labels/ratings, added by plain-old viewers of the catalog, might become IPTC metadata? If so, this would be REALLY nice, since it greatly multiplies the people who could add metadata, and allows viewers who might be more expert than the photographer (in some ways) to add their expertise via adding metadata.

If this interpretation isn't right, please consider it a feature request (ha).

Hi,

Yes if they buy MediaPro ! The Catalog Reader is in part a teaser for users to buy the full version.

The ability to write metadata, even just Labels and Ratings, is something people should be prepared to pay for. If your clients have the Adobe Creative Suite they can always download the images to a HDD and use Bridge.

As it is the Catalog Reader and Notepad feature allows users to still run it from a CD without installing anything. Well maybe Quicktime if they're on Windows ;).
