I've used Applescript a little but I'm basically an ignorant bodger. I have a few thousand images on alamy.com (an online photo library sales agency) but Alamy's site only allows me to update keywords and other data one pic at a time which is too slow to be useful.

Alamy will provide me with an Excel sheet that has the images (tiffs) with their associated data (caption, keywords, date, licence etc) in their own cells across the row. If I can import this data into Iview Media Pro I could use Iview's tools to bulk add/remove terms and do the other 'maintenance' operations that are too clumsy to do on Alamy's site. Then I could export the data to a new Excel & Alamy would apply it to my images on their site.

For testing I've saved a small part of the Excel file (about 10 lines of around 3,600) as an xml file from the Excel save menu but that file no longer contains the images. In any case when I use 'import from xml' in the Iview file menu I get error -8960 Failed to complete import!

It looks as if the Excel ->XML-> Iview route will not work and that I'll need to script this. Are there any existing scripts that might work or that I might be able to hack into doing this? In particular I'm baffled as to how I'll extract the images from the Excel file.

Alamy.com are widely criticised for their poor on site contributor image maintenance tools, if I can get this working there are hundreds (thousands?) of photographers who'd find it useful.

All help welcome! TIA.
