I need to rename files sequentially that often - but not always - have related files (in same folder) with same name and different extension, e.g. when the camera takes both .jpg and .cr2 simultaneously. The problem is that I often do not use the jpg/cr2 option when taking photos, so there's not always a 1-to-1 correlation.
I can't find a way to rename them and preserve the same file name/different extension so I'll know which cr2 files are paired with which jpgs. Every renaming solution I've found, so far, disregards the extensions and assigns a different number to every file.
Any help/solutions out there? The cr2 files do not have to be in the same folder, if you folks know of an easy way to do this with them in separate folders.
Running MacPro with 10.4.8. Thanks for any suggestions! |

How now,
iView has no support for sidecar or "buddy" files. Their suggested workaround for renaming is outlined in the PDF "Batch renaming Raw + JPEG in iView MediaPro 3" on the Workflow Solution Guides web page. Basically you can rename RAW+JPEG but have to settle with using the cameras numbering scheme. _________________ -- Robert

Thanks for pointing me to the pdf! The first solution is what I'd already started working on, but it means remembering to adjust my in-camera numbering at the beginning of every month, since my pre-existing numbering system starts with image #001 every month. But it's a beginning. Again, thanks for the help. |
