|I wouldn't usually even notice this, but an exercise I've just been through has caused me to look closely at file creation dates of some of my media files. And I've noticed that a lot of them don't agree with what is recorded in my EM catalog. And I'm wondering how that happened!
To expand on this, there are many of my files where the "created" date attribute (i.e. the filesystem's created date record -- right-click on file and look at Properties) does not match the "Created" date in the Media Info panel within EM... the dates are often different by exactly one hour, sometimes two, sometimes none.
Whilst this may sound a bit like a Daylight Saving issue, I don't think it can be. When a file is ingested into EM, the filesystem's created date information should be read by EM and stored in the "Created" date field, whether it's right or wrong. They should match from the start, and there is nothing that should subsequently happen to them to make them unmatched by exactly one or two hours.
Anyone have any ideas as to what might be occuring? Anyone else see the same?
I'm on Win XP. My "usual" workflow is to ingest from the CF card with Photo Mechanic, do some editing in Capture NX, do some annotating / rating in PM, and then import into EM.
